Five young people took control of the airwaves in a two-hour Saturday morning broadcast at Hospital Radio Medway.
The budding DJs from Strood Youth Centre took turns to present the show at Medway Maritime Hospital on 23 July, and played their own choice of music. They also spoke about their Saturday mornings at the youth centre.
They were each given a recording of the show, which will be broadcast to patients at the hospital every Sunday for the next month.
Youth Support Worker Tony Randall, who organised the trip, thanked the radio staff for supporting the young people. He said: “I really am proud of them in wanting to learn how a radio station works, preparing the show and recording it themselves”.
The young people are eager to get back to the decks and the station is now considering their return to produce a regular show for patients at the hospital.
